The share of agricultural products in Ukraine’s total exports has become the highest since independence

Over the past year, the share of agricultural products in total Ukrainian exports has increased from 53% to 62%, which is the highest figure since Ukraine’s independence. This was reported by Mykola Pugachev, Deputy Director of the National Research Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”.
The analyst emphasized that despite the full-scale war, exporters set records in terms of the volume of agricultural products supplied to the markets of other countries. In 2023, Ukrainian exporters managed to achieve the largest ever export volumes of frozen fruit in 87 thousand tons.
In 2023, Ukraine exported $22.1 billion worth of agricultural products. This result is 21% lower than the record of 2021 – $27.9 billion. Mykola Pugachev said that last season was characterized by an increase in the supply of domestic sugar and confectionery made from it to other countries.
If in 2022, compared to 2021, as a result of a decrease in both exports and imports, it decreased by more than $6 billion. Last year, compared to 2022, the turnover of import-export operations decreased by only 0.7 billion USD. THE TURNOVER OF IMPORTS AND EXPORTS DECREASED BY ONLY 0.7 BILLION USD. The key products of domestic agricultural exports have traditionally been cereals, oils and fats, various oilseeds, residues of the food and processing industry, meat and offal,” said Mykola Pugachev.
