The rapeseed harvest in the EU in 2024/25 MY will be 18.6 million tons – forecast
The production volumes of rapeseed in the European Union countries at the end of the 2024/25 season may amount to about 18.6 million tons. This forecast was announced by Refinitiv Commodities Research. Experts have not recently adjusted the estimate of oilseed harvest in the EU for the upcoming season, but the current figure is almost 1 million tons below the level of 2023/24 MY.
In addition, due to sowing delays and unfavorable weather conditions in western and southern Europe, the company reduced its estimate of soft wheat production in the EU in 2024/25 MY by 0.7 million tons, to 127.3 million tons (in the previous season collected 127.7 million tons).
“Heavy rainfall and flooding, especially in France, have delayed the sowing campaign. Near-term weather forecasts indicate colder temperatures across Europe, with overnight frosts in western and central regions. It is expected that lower temperatures will increase plant hardiness, and snow cover can protect crops,” the company commented.
They also added that temperatures are forecast to rise in December with precipitation that will exceed normal in some regions.
