The pace of global rapeseed exports is declining

The global trade volumes of rapeseed and canola in the first quarter of this year decreased by 15% compared to January-March 2023 – to 4.3 mln tonnes. Such data were announced in the report by the specialists of the Hamburg agency OilWorld (Germany).
Experts note that in March, the sales of oilseeds decreased by 24% from Australia, Canada, Ukraine, Uruguay and Russia, which account for 95% of the total world exports.
Overall, in the first 3 months, shipments from Australia dropped from 1.9 to 1.7 million tons; from Canada – from 2.5 to 1.5 million tons; from Uruguay – from 0.3 to 0.1 million tons. Sales from Russia remained unchanged (0.2 mln tons), while Ukraine recorded an increase (from 0.31 to 0.79 mln tons).
The main markets for rapeseed in the period under review were the EU – 1.7 (1.8) mln tonnes and China – 1.1 (1.7) mln tonnes.
