The leading regions of Ukraine in the cultivation of winter wheat in 2021

Over the past three years, an increase in the area under winter wheat in Ukraine was noted in 14 regions. The Zaporozhye region remained the leader.

This is stated in the material SuperAgronom.com: Sown area and yield of winter wheat, barley and rapeseed in Ukraine for 2019-2021.

“The gross harvest of winter wheat in 2021 amounted to 31.8 million tons, which is 19.7% more than in the previous three years. As for the sown area, 7972.8 thousand hectares were allocated for the 2021 winter crop, which is 4.9% more than in the previous year. For winter wheat – 6,850.3 thousand hectares, ”the message says.

The unchanged leaders in terms of the sown area of ​​winter wheat for three years were the Zaporizhzhia, Odessa and Kharkiv regions, where the indicators for the period 2019-2021 increased: in the Zaporizhzhia region – by 6.1% (43 thousand hectares), in the Odessa region – by 1.8% (12.5 thousand hectares) and in the Kharkiv region – by 8.1% (47 thousand hectares) and, as of 2021, amounted to: 706.3 thousand hectares, 669.8 thousand hectares and 577 thousand hectares, respectively.

At the same time, in 14 regions, an increase in sown areas under winter wheat was noted for the period from 2019 to 2021 at the level from 1 to 64.1 thousand hectares, while the average indicator of sown areas under crops in 2021 (285.42 thousand ha) was exceeded in 9, including Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Vinnitsa and Kirovograd.

In the rest of the regions, during the specified period, there was a decrease in the area under crops from 0.6 to 29.7 thousand hectares.
