The government of Ukraine is considering ways to increase agricultural exports
The problem of increasing the export of domestic agricultural products should be solved jointly by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Ukrzaliznytsia, – said the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskiy, on the air of the national marathon.
“We need to export at least 20 million tons of last year’s reserves, as well as several tens of millions of tons collected this year. At the presidential level, the redirection of significant volumes of exports through the Baltic ports was discussed. If in March the export volumes amounted to hundreds of tons, they will soon grow to millions of tons, “the minister said.
“What can farmers do? As before, although now it has become much more difficult. However, manufacturers have long proven that they can overcome all difficult circumstances. Yes, the circumstances used to be simpler, but the bigger the challenge, the greater the glory,” Solskiy concluded.
The government is now simplifying all permitting procedures within the country as much as possible to improve logistics and increase grain exports. According to the Minister, the issue of creating a reserve infrastructure to preserve the new harvest requires joint action of the government, business and deputies. For its part, the government promises to simplify the procedures for obtaining land, construction, construction and commissioning of new facilities.
At present, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy cannot predict the volume of exports, as grain will be transported across the western borders until the end of the war. However, exports are expected to grow to millions of tons per month this year. And agreements with other countries on maximum simplification of transit, assistance with infrastructure and reorientation to Ukrainian business already exist.
The Minister said that the checkpoints are not designed for a large number of grain trucks, so active work is underway to increase the capacity of customs and crossings. Preference is given to the intensification of rail transport, although this is not the only option that the Ministry of Infrastructure is working on. It is planned to increase exports to the ports on the Danube and the Romanian port of Constanta, as well as to establish supplies to the Baltic ports.
