The first million hectares of corn have been sown in Ukraine

As of the beginning of May, all categories of farms planted 2 million 320 thousand hectares of grain and pulses crops, including:

• spring wheat – 235.9 thousand hectares
• spring barley – 712.1 thousand hectares;
• peas – 128.6 thousand hectares;
• oats – 132.2 thou hectares;
• corn – 1059 thousand hectares;
• buckwheat – 3.1 thou hectares;
• millet – 8.4 thou hectares;
• other grains and pulses – 40.9 thou hectares.

Over the past week, a total of 952.4 thou hectares of grains and pulses were sown, with Kirovohrad region leading the way with 129 thou hectares.

Sugar beet is being sown by farmers in 14 regions, with 179.2 thou hectares planted.

Sunflower is being sown by farmers in all regions, with the total area under planting at 1485 thou hectares, most of which is in Poltava region – 235.9 thou hectares.

19 regions are sowing soybeans, 173.6 thou hectares have been planted.
