The EU reduced the volume of oilseed processing in September

The European Association of Oilseed Producers (FEDIOL) estimates that in September 2023, the EU oil extraction plants processed more than 3 mln tonnes of oilseeds (-0.23 mln tonnes compared to the previous month). In general, since the beginning of the year (January-September), the figure increased to almost 29 mln tonnes, compared to 27.66 mln tonnes in the same period of 2022.
As for rapeseed, local enterprises processed 1.59 mln tonnes of the crop in September (-11% y/y in August) and 14.24 mln tonnes in the first 9 months (+10% y/y in January-September 2022).
At the same time, the volumes of soybean processing last month dropped by about 15%, to 954 thsd tonnes, compared to August. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 7% decline to 10.4 mln tons.
On the contrary, sunflower production is growing month on month. In September 2023, 486 thsd tonnes of seeds were delivered to the mills for further processing, which is 19% higher than a month earlier. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, the figures have increased by 18%, to more than 4.34 mln tons.
