The area under soft winter wheat in France increased by 2.8%
According to official data, French farmers have planted 4.6 million hectares of soft winter wheat for the 2026 harvest. Compared to last year, the wheat planting area has increased by 2.8% and is roughly in line with the five-year average, according to the Zerno On-Line agency.
The planting area for all winter grain crops totaled 6.4 million hectares, an increase of 3.2% year-on-year. Winter barley was planted on 1.26 million hectares (up 5.3% from last year), and rapeseed on 1.37 million hectares (up 8%).
Conditions for winter crop development remain favorable.
