Tajikistan increased wheat imports but reduced flour purchases
According to customs data, the country reduced flour purchases abroad and increased domestic production, while wheat imports increased.
In Tajikistan, wheat imports exceeded domestic production in 2025.
The country imported 1.2 million tons of wheat from abroad, worth $300 million, the Antimonopoly Service reported.
According to the source, the average price per ton was $235, $25 lower than the previous year. Import volume during this period increased by 220,600 tons, or $26.4 million (20.85%).
It is emphasized that the wheat import market is competitive during this period, with 78 economic entities participating in the commodity market.
According to government statistics, last year the country produced a total of 811,300 tons of wheat, a decrease of 69,400 tons, or 7.9%, compared to the same period in 2024.
According to customs data, Tajikistan reduced its flour purchases abroad, while wheat imports increased.
During this period, the country imported 51,900 tons of flour worth $16.2 million at an average price of $312 per ton, a decrease of 16,000 tons, or 23.6%, compared to the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan produced 693,800 tons of flour, an increase of 23,600 tons, or 3.5%, compared to the same period last year.
