Sunseed yield in Ukraine remains lower than last year and does not give reason to expect a total harvest of more than 10 mln tons
Prices for sunflower oil and seeds have increased by $10-20, while processing plants are only supplied with raw materials for a month, which creates challenges for farmers and risks of quality decline. This is reported by Spike Brokers.
Ukraine has harvested 7.8 million tons of sunflower іууві compared to 9.5 million tons last year. The yield remains lower than last year and does not give reason to expect more than 10 million tons of total harvest this season, brokers note.
Sunflower oil prices in northern European ports have increased by $20 per week. A similar strengthening is observed in the direction of seaports of Ukraine, where quotes have risen by $20 to $1,280/ton CPT.
According to Spike Brokers, processing plants are currently supplied with raw materials for a little more than a month of work. Harvesting wet sunflower creates significant challenges for farmers in the process of bringing it to the required conditions and increases the risks of quality deterioration.
Sunіуув prices increased by $10-15 including VAT during the week. The spot price index for sunflower with delivery within 30 days increased by $11 including VAT – to $688/t including VAT.
The price is given for the basic quality 8/3/48, adjusted for the cost of transportation from the plant to the SRT Odesa base.
