Sunseed stocks in Kazakhstan are 33% higher than last year’s reserves
According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, oilseed stocks in the country amounted to 2.57 mln tonnes as of January 1, 2025, compared to 2.52 thsd tonnes as of the same date in 2024, including 1 mln 528.7 thsd tonnes of sunflower seeds, which is 33% higher than last year’s 1.14 mln tonnes.
Soybean stocks amounted to 78 thsd tonnes, up from 69 thsd tonnes as of January 1, 2024.
On the contrary, the stocks of other oilseeds decreased: lineseed stocks amounted to 627 thsd tonnes, compared to 786 thsd tonnes earlier. The stocks of rapeseed decreased to 226 thsd tonnes (against 235 thsd tonnes last year), safflower stocks – even more significantly, to 77 thsd tonnes (in January 2024 – 271 thsd tonnes). There are also 24.4 thousand tons of mustard seeds, 11.4 thousand tons of cotton seeds and 634.1 tons of camelina seeds.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic, the gross harvest of oilseeds amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 46% more than last year. The sunflower harvest increased by 35%, harvesting 1 mln 686.2 thsd tonnes with an average yield of 1.31 t/ha.
