Sunflower is a Cryptocurrency for Ukrainian Farmers – Opinion
The profitability of sunflower production is 71%, the potential for seed processing is 23 million tons of oil, but processing is declining. Stepan Kapshuk, General Director of the Ukroliyaprom Association, spoke about this at the conference “Modern Technologies of the Soybean Industry”.
Oilseeds are the most profitable crops. They give a total of UAH 60 billion of net profit, which is received today by large agricultural producers. However, high prices lead to a struggle between producers of raw materials and processors.
“The profitability of sunflower production is 71% at a selling price of 16 thousand UAH/t, and today it is 22 thousand UAH/t. Growing costs amount to UAH 22,000/ha with a yield of 2.6 t/ha, 1 ton goes to expenses, and UAH 30-32,000 is the earnings of farmers when growing sunflower, Kapshuk noted. – But they don’t sell sunflowers. Hold. After all, it is like a cryptocurrency – you don’t have to do anything with it, and if necessary, you sell the required amount, ”he said.
In the structure of crops, sunflower occupies 23%.
