Sugar production is increasing in Vietnam
Vietnam is seeing an improvement in sugar cane production.

According to the Vietnam Sugar Cane Producers Association, in MY 2023/24 the sugar cane harvest was harvested from an area of about 175 thousand hectares, which resulted in 6.79 tons of sugar per hectare. Farmers in one of the main sugar cane growing regions of Vietnam, Phu Yen Province, are selling their cane harvest at a record price of 1.3 million Vietnamese dong ($53) per ton.
According to the International Sugar Organization (ISO), in the season MY 2023/24 in Vietnam, sugar production amounted to about 1 million tons, which is 20% higher than the previous season. In the new season of MY 2024/25, the ISO forecasted sugar production in the country may reach about 1.1 mln tons. To ensure domestic consumption in MY 2024/25 of 2.3 mln tons, sugar imports are forecasted at 1.4 mln tons, which is 6.5% less than in MY 2023/24.
