Sugar production in Brazil increased by 20% – UNICA

According to UNICA, in the second half of June, sugar production in Central and South Brazil increased by 20.1% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 3.25 million tons. To achieve this volume, 48.81 million tons of sugar cane were processed, which is 13% more than in the same period last year.
The share of sugar cane allocated for sugar production in the second half of June amounted to 49.89%, compared to 49.36% in the same period last year.
In total, since the beginning of the new season of 2024/25 MY, in April, 238.4 mln tons of sugar cane were processed (+13.3% y-o-y), which produced 14.2 mln tons of sugar, up 15.7% y-o-y.
As of the end of June, 256 sugar factories were operating in the central and southern region of the country. Favorable weather conditions contributed to the increase in production.
