Strategy Grains raised its forecast for the EU milling wheat crop next season

Consultancy Strategie Grains has raised its forecast for milling wheat production in the European Union in MY 2025/26, citing higher than expected plantings in Germany. Now the company forecasts the EU wheat harvest in 2025 at 127.2 mln tonnes, which is 600 thsd tonnes more than the initial forecast and 13 mln tonnes more than last year’s harvest.
Strategy Grains also increased its forecast for the future barley harvest to 50.5 million tons.
According to Strategie Grains, the area under spring barley will decrease, while corn will increase. In addition, corn production will increase due to higher yields in Southeast Europe. Gross corn harvest in 2025 may reach 60.3 mln tons. However, the forecasted corn harvest is still 3.1% behind the five-year average.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
