Strategy Grains: EU may increase corn imports from Brazil and Canada, but not from Ukraine
The corn harvest in the European Union in 2024/25 MY will be the third lowest in a decade due to the deterioration of yields in Eastern Europe, Bloomberg reports.
According to the analytical company Strategie Grains, Europe will produce about 58 mln tonnes of corn. With the start of the harvest, “yield prospects have deteriorated sharply in Central Europe, and again in Romania and Bulgaria,” the report says.
Analysts also predict an increase in grain imports. Europe will “simultaneously have to contend with a very limited supply in Ukraine, so it will be more dependent on Brazilian and Canadian corn,” according to the forecast of Strategy Grains.
