Spring sowing in Ukraine reaches 460 thsd ha

Farmers in Ukraine across 20 regions had started sowing spring crops as of March 31, 2026.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.

In total, all categories of farms have sown 461,400 hectares, which accounts for 8% of the projected area for grain and leguminous crops. In particular, 52,600 hectares of spring wheat, 245,800 hectares of spring barley, 109,500 hectares of peas, and 49,200 hectares of oats have been planted.

The largest areas of grains and pulses have so far been sown in Odesa Oblast and Mykolaiv Oblast.

By the pace of fieldwork:

• Odesa Oblast: 86,400 ha (wheat — 5,600 ha, barley — 21,200 ha, peas — 56,500 ha, oats — 700 ha);
• Mykolaiv Oblast: 58,000 ha (barley — 31,000 ha, peas — 26,500 ha);
• Ternopil Oblast: 79,700 ha (wheat — 13,300 ha, barley — 58,200 ha, peas — 3,600 ha, oats — 4,600 ha).

Some regions have already begun sowing other crops. In particular, farmers in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast have started sowing millet, with 250 hectares already planted.

At the same time, the sowing of industrial crops is also starting. In particular, in Volyn Oblast, Lviv Oblast, Rivne Oblast, and Ternopil Oblast, sugar beet sowing has begun, with 12,800 hectares already planted.

In addition, farmers in Rivne Oblast have started sowing sunflower (1,200 ha), while in Lviv Oblast soybean sowing has begun (50 ha).
