Soybean harvests in Argentina have increased, while corn harvests are still well below the annual average
According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, as of May 23, 17.4 million tons of corn were threshed in Argentina from 2.12 million hectares or 28.2% of the planned harvest area with an average yield of 8.19 tons/ha.
Exchange experts note that corn harvest rates are at least 6 weeks behind the 5-year average, and yields vary greatly by region.
Also, on the specified date, 41.29 million tons of soybeans were threshed from 13.24 million hectares or 77.9% of the areas planned for harvesting with an average yield of 3.12 tons/ha.
So far, exchange experts maintain the corn harvest forecast in 2023/24 at the level of 46.5 million tons, which will exceed the previous season’s figure by 9.5 million tons.
