Slovakia today resumes blockade of trucks on the border with Ukraine

The border blockade will begin on December 11 at 15:00 and will continue until the carriers’ demands are met.
Slovak carriers have announced the continuation of the blockade of the border with Ukraine at the Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod crossing. This is stated in a statement by the Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia (UNAS).
According to the statement, the border blockade will begin on December 11 at 15:00 and will continue until the carriers’ demands are met. The border will be blocked for freight traffic, while passenger traffic will not be restricted.
It is noted that the decision was made “based on an assessment of the information received and its impact on the Slovak road transport market.”
The main requirement of UNAS is the abolition of the “transport visa-free regime” that has been in place between the European Union and Ukraine since July 1, 2023 (it cancels the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain permits to operate in the EU market).
