Slovak carriers announce the time of tomorrow’s strike on the border with Ukraine
The Union of Road Transport of Slovakia (Únia autodopravcov Slovenska – UNAS) will start blocking the Vysne Nemecke-Uzhhorod checkpoint on the border with Ukraine on December 1 at 16:00.
This is stated in the message of the association on Facebook.
The main demand of UNAS is the abolition of the “transport visa-free regime” that has been in place between the European Union and Ukraine since July 1, 2023, which, according to them, “has a devastating impact on our Slovak transport market and on the markets of other neighboring states of Ukraine.”
“The blockade will in no way restrict the transportation of humanitarian goods, military aid, live animals, fuel and chilled (fresh) goods. These vehicles will cross the border without restrictions,” UNAS said.
At the same time, commercial cargo will be allowed to cross at a rate of 4 trucks per hour.
