Second shipment of US wheat arrives in Bangladesh
A vessel carrying 57,003 tonnes of wheat from the United States has arrived at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port, marking the second shipment under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement. This was announced by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Food on January 19.
Of the total cargo, 34,320 tonnes will be unloaded at Chittagong Port, while the remaining 22,443 tonnes will be delivered to Mongla Port. Bangladesh has already begun importing wheat from the United States under the G2G-02 agreement, which предусматриває загальний імпорт 220,000 tonnes of wheat.
According to the ministry, sample testing of the wheat onboard the vessel has already started. Once quality checks are completed, the authorities will take the necessary steps to ensure the swift unloading of the cargo.
Earlier, the first shipment of 56,890 tonnes of wheat from the United States arrived in Bangladesh as part of the same agreement.
