Russia will not be able to retain its share of the global grain market – expert
Russia will not be able to ensure record grain exports this season as last year, according to the head of the Russian Grain Union, Arkady Zlochevsky.
He recalled that in 2023 exports were record-breaking – more than 56 million tons. At the same time, the entire world grain market is 220 million tons, that is, Russia occupied more than a quarter of the market. “We will not be able to keep this figure. This season exports will be less,” the head of the RGU told reporters.
“Since the beginning of the season (from July 1 to August 10), we have significantly reduced exports compared to last season. World prices are low and resources are much less. We exported in this period 9.8 million tons of grain last year, this year – 7.1 million tons,” – said Zlochevsky.
