Russia may block grain deal after decision on G7 security guarantees – Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has suggested that Russians may block the grain deal after the G7 decision on security guarantees.
“I am sure that after today’s acceptance of security guarantees, they will now make certain disruptions to important humanitarian projects. This is how Russia always reacts: it does not keep its word and constantly wants to block certain humanitarian corridors to create a new crisis,” the President said.
He noted that during the talks in Vilnius, this issue was raised, in particular, by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Zelenskyy called on the UN to become more actively involved in the issue so that the agreement continues to work.
“On our part, we are not violating anything, we are not blocking anything. We did not negotiate with Russia – we negotiated with the UN and Turkey, and they negotiated with Russia,” Zelensky said.
Earlier, the G7 countries announced long-term security commitments to Ukraine, including the supply of weapons. The plan is aimed at helping Kyiv “build an army capable of defending itself and deterring future attacks.”
Almost immediately, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Spain, Norway, and Sweden will join the G7 countries
The commitments will include the supply of “modern military equipment on land, air and sea,” training for Ukrainian forces, intelligence sharing, and cyber defense assistance.
In exchange, Kyiv will have to undertake reforms, particularly in the judicial system and in the area of civilian control over the army.
