Romanian farmers expect warming, importers – lower prices

As for the new crop, in southern regions of Romania, cold temperatures have halted early crop development of spring barley, which started in early March. Farmers inform that corn and sunseed sowing should start from next week. Farmers expect the onset of sharply higher air temperatures, which next week should be compared to summer days. Rains expected next week in the southern areas should be beneficial for both winter and spring crops.
Thus, world importers are now in the wait-and-see mode, watching the weather patterns. Moreover, their focus is on the ongoing ceasefire talks in the Black Sea. The effective ceasefire deal may increase the Black sea grain exports, which may push the prices even lower than the current new crop offers.
