Romania: Strengthening positions in the Black Sea-Danube-Balkan oilseed market

While Bulgaria debates import restrictions, Romania is strengthening position as one of the key oilseed producers and exporters in the Black Sea region. Strong demand for rapeseed (RPS) and rapeseed oil and meal (RSO and RSM) from European processors continues to support farmer decitions to expand oilseed area in 2026.
Early spring weather is generally favourable for crop development, although some risk remains after temperature fluctuations. Even with these uncertainties, Romania’s oilseed sector is benefiting from stable export demand and relatively strong integration into EU supply chains.
Sunflower also remains attractive for Romanian farmers due to high prices. Strong exports confirms Romania stronger position as a supplier of oilseeds to European processors.
