EU approves list of goods from the US to be subject to duties: agricultural products – for EUR 6 bln

The European Union has compiled a list of US goods that will be subject to duties. According to Bloomberg, the list includes products worth 72 billion euros.
These duties will be introduced if the EU decides to take action in response to Donald Trump’s tariff policy, which promises to impose an additional 30% duty on European goods from August 1.
According to the publication, the list consists of more than 200 pages. Initially, the list concerned US goods worth a total of 95 billion euros, but was shortened after consultations with companies and EU member states.
The new list of US goods subject to taxation covers industrial goods worth more than 65 billion euros, including aircraft (almost 11 billion euros), machinery (more than 9.4 billion euros), and cars (almost 8 billion euros). More than 6 billion euros of US goods that will be subject to tariffs are agricultural products, mainly fruits and vegetables (almost 2 billion euros) and alcoholic beverages (1.2 billion euros).
The broad package also includes precision equipment and tools (almost 5 billion euros), toys and hobby equipment (more than 500 million euros), sporting weapons (almost 300 million euros) and musical instruments (about 200 million euros).
The US and the EU continue to seek a mutually beneficial trade compromise.
Last week, the EU announced its intention to extend the suspension of tariffs on a first list of US goods worth 21 billion euros in response to additional tariffs on steel and aluminum imposed by Trump.
