Rapeseed production in Germany may decrease by 3% this year

According to the German Ministry of Agriculture, this year’s rapeseed harvest in the country may be reduced due to a prolonged period of unfavorable weather conditions – first drought and then precipitation.
According to the agency’s estimates, the gross harvest of the oilseed in the country will decrease by 3% to 4.2 mln tons for the year. Similar dynamics is expected in the grain group, where the harvest is forecast at 42.23 mln tons (-2.9% by 2022).
“In particular, the wheat harvest may decline by 6% to 20.77 mln tonnes due to the unfavorable impact of precipitation in late summer, which also worsened the quality of the grain. Thus, the protein content in winter wheat will decrease to 11.7% compared to 11.9% last year,” the Ministry of Agriculture explained.
