Rapeseed processing in the EU is at a record pace
In the fourth quarter of 2023, the EU countries increased the processing of rapeseed to the new record level – 6.67 mln tonnes (+0.2 mln tonnes y-o-y). Such data were published by the analysts of the Hamburg agency OilWorld (Germany).
“In the first half of the current season, the total volumes of rapeseed processing in the EU reached the record level – 12.8 mln tonnes (+0.65 mln tonnes),” the experts said.
They claim that the most noticeable increase was in Germany and Poland – by 0.42 mln tonnes and 0.14 mln tonnes respectively.
At the same time, according to preliminary estimates of experts, in January-June 2024, the volume of processing in the EU will decrease seasonally and may amount to 11.9-12 million tons.
“This will be mainly due to the reduction of the domestic supply of rapeseed in the EU and insufficient imports of the oilseed, mainly from Australia,” the agency added.
