Rapeseed exports from Ukraine currently dominate processing

In July-December, rapeseed exports from Ukraine amounted to 1.45 million tons, while processing volumes are estimated at 948 thousand tons. With a harvest of 3.2 million tons, this leaves about 800 thousand tons of potential export resources in the second half of the season. This is reported by Spike Brokers.

“The balance clearly indicates the dominance of seed exports over domestic processing, which is due to high cost and limited margins of processing plants,” the report says.

In the port direction, rapeseed prices remain in the range of $535-550/ton, while in the EU direction, rapeseed is traded at €490-510/ton DAP with delivery by road or rail to processors in Germany, with differentiation depending on oil content.

As brokers noted, rapeseed prices on the MATIF exchange have recovered after a decline in late 2025, and the technical picture is gradually improving following the general strengthening of the oilseed complex. Additional support was provided by the USDA update, which confirmed the reduction in global rapeseed stocks against the background of lower export estimates from Australia and the preservation of high domestic consumption in the EU.

At the same time, the IGC points to a decrease in global rapeseed supply in the second half of the 2025/26 season, which forms a more balanced market and increases the sensitivity of prices to logistical and weather risks.
