Profits of Ukrainian agricultural companies have doubled: growers are ahead of traders

In 2024, the revenues of Ukrainian agricultural business increased by one third, and profits almost doubled.
This is stated in the material of LIGA.net.
The total revenue of the industry for the year reached UAH 1.3 trillion, and profits amounted to UAH 127 billion against UAH 74 billion a year ago.
Analysts note that there is a significant difference in the composition of the top ten agricultural companies with the highest revenues and the highest profits. Only two companies are on both lists.
Ukrainian companies representing the world’s leading agricultural traders are officially balancing on the edge of profitability regardless of which routes they use. “ADM Ukraine, with its own terminal in the port of Odesa and oil transshipment in Chornomorsk, confidently controls the second largest cash flow in the Ukrainian agricultural sector, but has incurred losses of UAH 0.6 billion. “Viterra Ukraine and Cargill showed profits, but at the level of 2-3% of turnover. By comparison, Kernel Trade, which is number one in terms of revenue, reported a profitability that was twice as high – 6%.
Against the backdrop of agricultural traders, some classic crop and livestock companies look like potential unicorns. Enselco Agro of Verevsky has a 43% profitability, Ukraine 2001 of Vadym Leyva has a 41% profitability, Agroprodservice of Ivan Chaikovsky has a 35% profitability, and VITAGRO of Sergey Labazyuk has a 28% profitability.
All the leaders in terms of profitability are united by the fact that they systematically apply advanced agricultural technologies. This requires investments in specialists, modern machinery and agrochemicals, the publication writes.
As for geographical features, in 2024, the majority of the most profitable agricultural companies were from Podillia. Four out of ten companies with the highest profits have their production facilities (fields and farms) in Khmelnytsky region. Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions are in second place.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
