Polish Railways is preparing to enter the Ukrainian market to operate at border terminals
PKP Cargo, a subsidiary of PKP (Polish State Railways), plans to enter the Ukrainian market, Chairman of the Board Alan Beroud told Puls Biznesu.
“Americans want to build transshipment terminals in Ukraine. We intend to apply for contracts for their operation,” he said.
PKP Cargo could deliver various types of cargo, as it does not need to buy wide-gauge locomotives and wagons, as the US and the EU plan to build a European gauge track to Lviv and then to other cities, including Odesa.
“We have many ideas for the development of PKP Cargo in other countries. Pawel Lisiewicz, a member of PKP’s board, has extensive international experience and can support the company in entering foreign markets,” added Alan Barrow.
