Poland seeks 30-40% duty increase on fertilizers from Russia and Belarus
Polish authorities are seeking from the EU to impose barrier duties on imports of fertilizers from Russia and Belarus. This was announced in an interview with the newspaper Rzeczpospolita by Polish Minister of State Assets Jakub Jaworowski.
“We are working to stop these imports. I also discussed this issue in Brussels last week,” he said. He argued that Warsaw believes it is more effective to stop imports of fertilizers from rf and Belarus by raising duties rather than trying to impose sanctions. “We do not want to go the way of sanctions, because it implies unanimity, which, as we know, will not happen. That’s why we are going down the path of customs duties. It seems to us that a duty of 30-40% should stop imports from the East,” the politician pointed out.
