Poland close to ending blockade of Ukrainian border – Tusk

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is confident that the country is close to ending the blockade of the Ukrainian border, but first the head of the Polish government proposes to discuss the issue with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Reuters reports.
“We are close to the conviction that our actions can bring results, both in the negotiations in Kyiv and in Brussels. I don’t think we will reach the maximum that the truckers want, but it seems that what can be achieved will allow us to remove emotions and lift the blockade on the border,” Donald Tusk said at a press conference.
The Prime Minister noted that he would do everything possible to ease the lives and fate of Polish truckers.
Tusk added that the current rules on permits for Ukrainian drivers will be in effect until June 2024, and that it is unlikely that they will be changed before then. However, he said that other issues could be resolved at an “operational level”.
He added that he would discuss the issue of border blockades by truckers in more detail with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his upcoming visit to Kyiv.
