Philippines plans to get serious about soybean production
The Philippine Department of Agriculture is conducting field trials to evaluate soybean production and processing technologies in the country. It will also identify best production management practices and evaluate existing, new or improved soybean varieties.
The results of the trial will guide farmers to adopt appropriate technology on their farms in line with industry requirements.
Over the past five years, the country has produced only 0.35% of the total soybean demand, with most of the demand being met by imports.
