Peskov confirms that Guterres asked Putin to extend the grain deal in exchange for concessions
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has sent a letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding the extension of the grain deal.
This was stated by Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports.
“Indeed, Mr. Guterres’ letter (to Putin – ed.) set out again a certain action plan and a promise that someday it will be possible to fulfill the Russian part of these agreements,” Peskov said.
He added that it is now impossible to return to the implementation of the grain deal because it is allegedly not being implemented.
As a reminder, Guterres proposed in a letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to connect the subsidiary of the sanctioned Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system to continue the grain deal. But Russia did not respond to this proposal.
