Pakistan to import 1.1m tons of soybeans from US

A trade delegation from the Pakistan Edible Oils Association (APSEA) visited Washington this week and struck deals with leading soybean exporters including Cargill, LDC, Olam and others to import 1.1 million tonnes of soybeans from the US worth around $500 million, Business Recorder reported.
The deal is expected to significantly reduce the US-Pakistan trade deficit without putting additional burden on Pakistan as the purchases will largely replace existing supplies from Brazil.
