Pakistan purchases sorghum from the US following floods

European traders reported on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, that Pakistani buyers are believed to have purchased approximately five shipments of grain sorghum from the United States after severe floods damaged the country’s crops.
The exact tonnage is unclear, but traders estimate the volume to be between 240,000 and 300,000 tons. The shipments are scheduled for delivery between October and December 2025, with an estimated price of around $260 per ton, including cost and freight.
Traders suggest the sorghum was likely procured to replace corn in poultry feed after recent flooding and heavy rains damaged Pakistan’s grain crops. The significant crop losses may increase Pakistan’s demand for wheat and other grains in the near future.
