Over 60% of sunseed stocks in Ukraine in the 2025/26 MY are concentrated in agricultural enterprises
In Ukraine, due to the uneven and unstable supply of sunseed from farmers during the 2024/25 MY, oil and fat enterprises were unable to form sufficient stocks of raw materials. This is confirmed by the fact that in the MY 2025/26, up to 67% of sunseed stocks are in agricultural enterprises. This was reported by Stepan Kapshuk, General Director of the Ukroliyaprom Association.
“Some processing enterprises stopped processing sunflower seeds and switched to soybeans, and some simply stopped due to the lack of economic feasibility of processing sunflower seeds,” says Kapshuk.
According to him, the processing of soybeans in the MY 2024/25 amounts to over 2.6 million tons (39% of production), rapeseed – only over 0.5 million tons (14%).
At the same time, soybean exports in the MY 2024/25 amounted to 4.1 million tons (62% of production), rapeseed exports amounted to 3.1 million tons (over 86%).
