Oil World analysts have lowered their forecast for the world sunseed harvest for the MY 2025/26

Oil World analysts have cut their global sunflower seed production forecast for 2025/26 MY by 0.7 million tonnes to 58.7 million tonnes. This is still 3.6 million tonnes more than last year, but drought and adverse conditions have forced them to revise their estimates. The downgrade is due to a worsening situation in key producing regions.
In the European Union, the sunflower harvest will be reduced by 0.5 million tonnes to 8.75 million tonnes due to drought in France, Bulgaria, Romania and Spain. For Ukraine, the forecast has been reduced by 0.6 million tonnes to 12.9 million tonnes, and for Turkey by 0.1 million tonnes to 1.18 million tonnes. The deterioration in yields in these countries is making it difficult to supply the world market.
In contrast, Kazakhstan and Argentina have improved their forecasts, to 2.1 million tonnes (+0.4 million) and 5.2 million tonnes (+0.1 million), respectively. These countries may partially offset losses due to better weather conditions and agricultural technologies.
