Nibulon calls on the international community to facilitate the opening of Mykolaiv and Kherson ports

Nibulon has called on the international community to make the opening of the ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson a key condition for a future agreement on the safety of navigation in the Black Sea. This is stated in an open appeal of the holding.
As negotiations on Black Sea navigation security continue, Nibulon calls on the international community to make the opening of the ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson – without compromising Ukraine’s sovereignty and freedom of navigation – a key condition for any future agreement.
“We emphasize that there can be no agreement to external control, ‘grain monitoring’ by the Russian Federation or restrictions on Ukraine’s sovereign right to free trade,” the statement reads.
Nibulon also reminded that before the full-scale invasion, the ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson provided a significant portion of Ukraine’s agricultural exports, especially to the countries most dependent on Ukrainian grain. Their blockade:
- paralyzed maritime trade in southern Ukraine;
- blocked more than 100 ships, including foreign ones;
- halted regional recovery;
- aggravated the global food crisis.
“The unblocking of Ukrainian ports should take place on the basis of international law, with guarantees of freedom of trade, respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and without any control by the aggressor. Ukrainian ports must work – not under the aggressor’s conditions, but for the sake of Ukraine’s future and the stability of the world,” the company summarized.
