New wheat tender in Tunisia shows importers willing to pay high price amid rising Black Sea wheat prices
On July 23, the Tunisian State Procurement Operator (ODC) purchased 100,000 tons of common wheat of any origin in a tender for delivery from August 10 to September 25, 2025, at an average price of $262.86/ton C&F, which is $10.6/ton higher than the purchase price of the previous tender of July 9 (also for delivery in August).
In particular, the following was purchased:
- 2 batches of 25 thousand tons from Bunge at prices of $261.49 and $262.98/ton C&F,
- 2 batches of 25 thousand tons from Cargill at a price of $263.42/ton C&F.
Purchase prices turned out to be lower than offer prices, which reached $269-278.77/t C&F, given the price level for Black Sea wheat in the range of $245-250/t FOB.
Recall that in the tender on June 13, the Tunisian Grain Agency purchased 100 thousand tons of European wheat at an average price of $245.51/ton C&F with delivery in July 2025.
On the Ukrainian market, traders are trying to reduce prices for food wheat after their sharp increase to $228-232/t with delivery to Black Sea ports, announcing the purchase of the necessary volumes, but forecasts of prolonged precipitation in the west and center may again significantly adjust the purchasing prices and traders’ strategies for the coming week.
