In Ukraine, there is a trend towards an increase in milk production at enterprises, the increase is 5% year-on-year. The number of poultry is also +5%. There was a decrease in the number of livestock in households by 2%, but there are signs of recovery. These figures confirm that industrial livestock farming is looking to the future with confidence.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky during the Ukrainian Livestock Summit.

“We also have positive news as a result of the update of the trade part of the Association Agreement, which expands the possibilities of access to the EU market for Ukrainian agricultural producers and increases quotas for certain livestock products, in particular poultry farming and the dairy industry. The updated quotas will come into force on October 29. This gives an understanding to producers working in livestock farming why it is worth growing, continuing to invest and increasing production,” Taras Vysotsky noted.

He stressed that it is also important to obtain the maximum added value in livestock farming per 1 hectare, strengthening processing.

“If we talk about medium-sized businesses, then for this segment there are grants for processing, which will continue to operate next year. For large and medium-sized businesses, it is necessary to consider larger grants or preferential loans. By the way, preferential loans under the 5-7-9% program for processing livestock products in the amount of UAH 150 million have also been extended for a year,” Taras Vysotsky reported.

We remind you that UkrAgroConsult has prepared a new study “Ukraine’s livestock market. Strategic changes under the pressure of war”, which will become a practical reference point for farmers, investors and agricultural enterprises. It contains an in-depth analysis of cattle breeding, pig breeding, poultry farming, the investment environment and export opportunities, and also offers practical recommendations for strategic planning, increasing production efficiency and developing competitive products in the conditions of post-war recovery.
