Malaysia to Buy Sorghum from the US

Malaysian authorities have decided to simplify the procedure for importing sorghum from the United States, which opens up new opportunities for American grain exporters. According to Caleb Wurth, regional representative of the USGC, this decision will allow Malaysia to receive high-quality feed and food products needed for its growing economy.
Simplifying import requirements reduces logistical and administrative obstacles, increasing the competitiveness of American sorghum in the Malaysian market. In the 2023-2024 marketing year, Malaysia purchased more than $28 million of American grain. According to the US Department of Agriculture, this figure has already been exceeded this year, reaching $32 million by February.
Rowena Ngumbang, also representing the USGC, emphasized that Malaysia, like many countries in Southeast Asia, is a stable market for American products. She expressed confidence that the new rules will help strengthen trade ties between the countries.
USGC intends to actively promote American sorghum in Southeast Asian countries, emphasizing its versatility and nutritional properties.
