Louis Dreyfus Co. (LDC) has expanded its operations in Argentina by acquiring a grain complex in Entre Rios province, in the Santa Elena district. The purchase is intended to strengthen the company’s logistics capabilities along the Paraná River. Details of the deal, announced April 11, were not disclosed.

The acquired facility includes a barge terminal capable of handling 450 tons of product per hour. LDC emphasizes that this will create profitable alternatives for transporting grain to the port complexes of Timbues and General Lagos, located in Santa Fe province. The distance to these ports is 260 km and 320 km, respectively, if you go south along the river from Santa Elena.

It is expected that soybeans and oilseeds grown in Entre Rios will be shipped to Timbues. There, new equipment for processing these crops is planned to be installed starting in 2026, which will complement the existing soybean processing capacity and port operations.

Juan Tizado, LDC’s regional manager, noted that the expansion of processing capacity in the interior of Argentina will allow the company to work more closely with producers and improve traceability of shipments.

LDC plans to provide local producers with a wide range of logistics and financial services, sustainability consulting, and to sell seeds, fertilizers and crop protection products under the Macro Seed, Macro Fertil and Macro Protect Group brands.

Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
