Kernel agricultural exports boost 4x with ‘grain corridor’ in place

Kernel, one of Ukraine’s largest exporters of agricultural commodities, has managed a 4x increase in shipments since the ‘grain corridor’ was opened, announced Mykola Miroshnychenko, logistics director.

He adds that the success of the first months does not imply that companies are abandoning the land logistics routes and those via river ports established over the past six months.

“We are focused on enhancing the pace of maritime exports, while at the same time not giving up on all other supply chains to be able to redirect export flows should the need arise,” explains Mykola Miroshnychenko.

Maritime ports of Ukraine were blocked by russia since February 24, 2022, the day this country started a full-scale war against Ukraine until on 22 July a grain deal was signed in Turkey.

From Aug. 1 to Oct. 5, 274 vessels bound for Asia, Europe and Africa departed the ports of Ukraine. The ships were loaded with 6.2 MMT of agricultural commodities.
