Kazakhstan to export 10.4 mln tons of grain in MY 2025/26
Total wheat exports in MY 2025/26 (September 2025 – August 2026), including processed products (wheat and feed flour), in grain equivalent, will amount to 10.4 million tons, including 6 million tons of wheat, said Yevgeny Karabanov, official representative of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan.
This figure is 13% lower than in the record MY 2024/25, but 17% higher than the average long-term values. At the same time, there is an increase in the export of processed products, primarily feed flour to China.
Due to the geographical remoteness of Kazakhstan from the outlet to the world ocean, the main export markets for Kazakh wheat and processed products will be limited to nearby countries and remain traditional:
1) Uzbekistan – wheat and wheat flour;
2) Afghanistan – wheat flour and wheat;
3) China – feed flour, wheat, wheat flour;
4) Tajikistan – wheat and wheat flour;
5) Kyrgyzstan – wheat and wheat flour;
6) Turkmenistan – wheat flour and wheat.
From distant countries, durum wheat for pasta production is exported to Italy, where, following the results of the past MY, Kazakhstan became the third largest importer of durum wheat, among other world suppliers.
“In the event of budget financing for partial compensation of transportation costs when exporting wheat to distant markets, following the example of the last MY, it is possible to supply our wheat to the countries of North Africa and the Middle East,” E. Karabanov specified.
Barley exports in MY 2025/26 are projected at 1.7 million tons (-10% y/y) to the traditional markets of China and Iran.
