Kazakhstan resumes grain supplies to Iran

Kazakhstan has resumed grain exports to Iran after an almost two-week break. This was reported by the State Food Corporation and the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the national grain operator, grain transshipment to Iran is carried out through the subsidiary Ak Biday-Terminal in Aktau. Since the beginning of 2026, 31 thousand tons of Kazakh grain have already been sent to the Iranian market through the terminal.

The Food Corporation noted that they continue to monitor demand from Iranian partners and are ready to conclude new contracts if there is interest.

In total, from September 1, 2025 to March 18, 2026, Kazakhstan exported 8.9 million tons of grain of the new harvest.

The main direction of supplies remains Uzbekistan – the volume of exports there increased by 14 percent and reached 7.5 million tons. Deliveries to Kyrgyzstan increased by 1.8 times – to 354 thousand tons, to Afghanistan – by 24 percent, to 1.3 million tons, to Turkmenistan – by 1.5 times, to 145 thousand tons.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that in 2025 Kazakhstan harvested a record grain harvest – 27.1 million tons. Of these, 20.3 million tons fell on wheat. The country’s export potential this season is estimated at approximately 13 million tons.

Iran remains one of the traditional buyers of Kazakh grain, including wheat, barley and corn. According to the results of 2025, Kazakhstan supplied about 1 million tons of wheat to this country.
