Kazakhstan releases final sunflower yield forecast for 2025

Kazhydromet has issued its final forecast for sunflower yields in Kazakhstan for 2025, predicting above-average and near-average yields across various regions. Favorable conditions for sunflower growth, a heat-loving crop, were supported by rising temperatures from the start of the growing season, which aided crop development. Adequate rainfall further promoted active growth and the formation of sunflower heads, ensuring sufficient moisture for the plants.
Sunflower yields in 2025 are expected to be above long-term averages in several areas, including Kostanay region’s Denisovsky, Karasusky, Sarykolsky, Uzynkolsky, Fedorovsky districts, and B. Maylin district; Abay region’s Borodulikhinsky district; and East Kazakhstan region’s Glubokovsky, Katon-Karagaysky, Altai districts, and Shemonaikha. Near-average yields are anticipated in Pavlodar region, most of Abay region, and the majority of Kostanay region.
