Kazakhstan reduced the area under grain by almost 1 mln ha

The sowing campaign ended in Kazakhstan on June 14, with a total of 23.8 mln ha sown, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan reports.
Grain crops were sown on the area of 16.6 mln ha (17.5 mln ha in 2023), oilseeds – 3 mln ha (2.8 mln ha in 2023), 3.4 mln ha were sown for fodder crops. Vegetable crops were also planted on 142.5 thsd ha, and potatoes – on 166.8 thsd ha.
“Despite the difficult weather conditions, spring field work was completed in the best possible time. At the same time, in cases when the sowing period was delayed due to heavy rainfall, farmers used early and mid-season varieties,” the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
In preparation for the sowing campaign, the required volume of seeds was formed at 2.4 million tons. This year, farmers have applied 2.1 times more fertilizers than on the same date in 2023.
The volume of concessional financing in 2024 amounted to 580 billion tenge, of which 400 billion is an additional amount of borrowed funds.
The Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov noted that the successful sowing campaign was made possible by the coordinated work of farmers, providing the necessary resources, including financial ones.
“The main task facing agricultural producers is to ensure timely care of crops and readiness for harvesting,” the Minister emphasized.
