Kazakhstan offered China 2 mln tons of grain per year
Kazakhstan intends to increase the supply of agricultural products to the Chinese market. The volume of grain exports is planned to increase to 2 million tons. This was stated by the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“At the end of 2023, exports of agricultural products from Kazakhstan to China doubled and reached $1 billion. We expect to increase supplies of quality natural meat products, oilseeds and grain crops to the Chinese market. There are opportunities to increase the volume of grain exports to 2 million tons. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Xi Jinping for the support of these measures,” – said the leader of Kazakhstan.
According to him, a number of successful joint projects are being implemented in the agro-industrial complex.
“At the same time, special attention is paid to the application of smart-technologies in agriculture, rational use of water resources and deep processing of agricultural products. Kazakhstan is interested in the introduction of Chinese experience and innovations, as well as the joint realization of a number of investment projects in the agricultural sector,” Tokayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that China is a leading trade partner of Kazakhstan.
“Last year the volume of bilateral trade turnover amounted to $41 billion. In the near future we intend to double this figure. Moreover, we have sufficient potential for this. Beijing is one of our main foreign investors. Over the past 15 years, Kazakhstan has attracted about $25 billion,” Tokayev said.
He said that in 2023, the volume of Chinese investment in Kazakhstan’s economy increased by 16% to $1.8 billion. There is also mutual interest in increasing this indicator.
“To date, 45 projects totaling $14.5 billion are being implemented. In total, more than 4,700 enterprises with Chinese capital are operating,” the president said.
